WM AGRI – A BACKGROUND

A very warm welcome to our new website! If this is your first time being on here, a special welcome, and for returning regulars and customers and everyone I hope that this blog finds you in good health and great spirit! When I was a little boy, like many other farmer’s sons I was fascinated by machinery, how it worked how it moved and of course what it was like to ride in or on it! Now looking back over the time since I have long left school; it is quite extraordinary to think that all I ever wanted to be was a farmer, I never would have dreamed in a million years to be owning my own machinery business!W.M. Agri was first started in February 2015, after a combination of spending eight years of my career working for both dealers and manufacturers in various parts of the country, my first job of “cutting my teeth” was with Richard Keenan or now as it is known Alltech. My job title was Area Sales Manager for Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, East & West Sussex & The Channel Islands, with my main job being growing and maintaining a customer base, but also being an after-sales manager for the service side as well. Having had a standing start of no selling experience whatsoever, I was needless to say “dropped in at the deep end” and literally having to either sink or swim; with a three month no guaranteed job at the end of the period trial, I was 250 miles from home and in an area I only vaguely could relate to was where the Wurzels came from, it was also the most famous area for “Zider” as the locals called it and there was a legend of a cave which had a witch living in or used to!

Nevertheless, I rose to the challenge and soon became a formidable contender in the sales team, often hitting my target on a regular basis and building my network of dealers and customers alike.I then decided the strain of the long journey to come home to see a lovely lady my now fiancé Lou whom I first met up with whilst I was home for a weekend from meeting her on a wonderful website called Muddy Matches, was too much, so I applied for a job with another dealer in Lincolnshire selling John Deere machinery and then got head-hunted for another dealer based in Norfolk selling JCB and various other franchises, and after two and a half years of that and some working in between I decided it was time to take the plunge and go it alone! Starting a machinery business at any time of a year is a brave decision; particularly in the year of 2015, where corn prices were on the floor, all animal meat trade was at its worse position in memory, and plus it was a start-up business with very little capital and only one supplier!

With some savings as capital, I was able to purchase a Strimech muck fork and grapple and a grain bucket and that is how we started the business!WM Agri started off with very much the same ethos I have always had “Never EVER give up, dream big, never quit” and it was very much the case when we started the business, there were a lot of well long-established firms surrounding us and we were like them hungry for business, but we persevered and today we regularly deal with over twenty-five different suppliers from all over Europe and beyond. With all businesses and the inevitable things which happen in life we have had a few “bumps” along the way with some our past suppliers, however, the ones which we deal with today have a strong and solid relationship with them as our supplier and us as their dealer! Our range today consists of attachments right through to trailers and tillage and cultivation equipment, encompassing livestock equipment and machinery and a subject which has become a specialist field for us Biogas machinery and equipment. In 2016 we also added a machinery sourcing and brokerage arm to the business, being able to source and supply niche and unusual equipment for our customers, which has led us to form some very dynamic and long-lasting relationships with most of our suppliers and continues to do so to this day. Today WM Agri strives to offer our customers second to none service, peace of mind and above everything great value for money and customer satisfaction. Our aim is to be the preferred choice of machinery supplier to our customer’s needs and demands by being there when we are most needed and offering the support that only a truly focussed and hard-working organisation can give without compromising on quality and good old-fashioned customer service. Have a look through our website where hopefully something will catch your eye, failing that, feel free to pick up the phone and speak to one of our dedicated sales team members who are on hand to help and advise you on the best solutions for your machinery requirements and needs.WM Agri we are here when you need us most!
